As a cornerstone project for their Civic Engagement course within the Faculty of Engineering at the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP), undergraduates from the Department of Supply Chain and Automation Engineering (SCA) initiated, coordinated, and executed the SCA Badminton Tournament on Sunday, 30 August 2026.
The main goal of the tournament was to build community between seniors and juniors by teaming up and playing against each other. Stepping beyond the boundaries of engineering lecture halls and automation labs, students connected in a vibrant athletic environment designed to break down year-group barriers, encourage open communication, and cultivate genuine peer mentorship.
Throughout the tournament day at Central Park Sports Complex, every participant showed tremendous sportsmanship and embraced healthy, spirited competition. From dynamic smashes and skillful drop shots to encouraging court-side chants, the matches served as a fun, inclusive, and memorable platform to strengthen departmental unity and school pride.
Key takeaway: Sports serve as a powerful catalyst for civic learning and community building. When engineering students step onto the court together to collaborate and compete, they cultivate leadership, trust, and fellowship that enrich their academic and professional journeys.
