In Viet Nam for the 2026 AUN-VNUHCM Summer Camp

Ms. Kheng Kanika, a second-year student of the Department of Automation & Supply Chain Systems Engineering, is one of four RUPPers taking part in the 2026 AUN-VNUHCM Summer Camp, a two-week programme hosted by Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM) from 19 July to 1 August 2026, under the theme Towards Sustainable Development.

Congratulations

An SCA student among the four RUPPers in Ho Chi Minh City

We are proud to share that Ms. Kheng Kanika, a second-year student of the Department of Automation & Supply Chain Systems Engineering (SCA), has successfully secured her participation in the 2026 AUN-VNUHCM Summer Camp, and is now in Viet Nam taking part in it.

The camp is hosted by Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM) under the ASEAN University Network (AUN), and runs for two weeks — 19 July to 1 August 2026 — across Ho Chi Minh City and An Giang Province. Its theme this year is Towards Sustainable Development, framed around the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Kheng Kanika travelled with three fellow RUPPers — Mr. Eng Soeunphirak of the Department of Data Science and Engineering, Ms. Sun Sokanich of the Department of Tourism, and Mr. Try Sochetra of the Department of International Business Management.

Our sincere appreciation and warmest regards to all four RUPP participants. We wish them an inspiring and empowering experience — one that fills their hearts with joy and hope, and that they carry back to Phnom Penh.

About the Programme

What two weeks at VNUHCM look like

The AUN-VNUHCM Summer Camp is a short residential programme in the AUN Summer Camps series — the ASEAN University Network’s way of putting undergraduates from its member universities on one campus for a concentrated stretch of study and shared work. The 2026 edition is hosted by Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City under the theme Towards Sustainable Development, and splits its two weeks between the city campus and field visits in An Giang Province.

01
An AUN summer camp
The camp sits within the AUN Summer Camps, the programme through which ASEAN University Network members host one another’s students for short, intensive terms.
02
Towards Sustainable Development
This year’s theme is built around the UN Sustainable Development Goals — the framework participants use to read the sites they visit and the problems they are asked to work on.
03
City campus and field visits
The fortnight runs across Ho Chi Minh City and An Giang Province, pairing sessions on campus with visits that put the theme in front of the cohort rather than on a slide.
Key takeaway

Sustainable development is a supply chain problem long before it is a policy one — and Viet Nam, Cambodia’s neighbour and one of its largest trading partners, is the nearest place to see that at full scale. Two weeks inside it is worth a semester of describing it.

In Focus

Ms. Kheng Kanika, second-year SCA

Kheng Kanika is the Department of Automation & Supply Chain Systems Engineering’s representative in cohort 4, and she reaches the camp at the mid-point of the degree — second year, with the core engineering and supply chain subjects behind her and the specialisation years still ahead. That is the useful moment to travel: far enough in to recognise what is being shown, early enough for it to change what comes next.

A camp on sustainable development sits squarely on her subject. Sustainability in a supply chain is not a slogan but a set of measurable things — how far goods move, how much of a shipment is empty space, what happens to what is left over, and who carries the cost of each. Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta province of An Giang put all of it within a day’s travel of one another.

She also spends the fortnight in cross-university teams with students from across the region. For an engineer, that is the part of the programme no classroom substitutes for: the same problem, argued through by people whose countries have already solved it differently.
