SCCHcam Workshop 2011

2011-09-09 11:02:55

By: Information Technology Center

Computer science and interdisciplinary approaches has long reached the arts and humanities or the other way around, and has become more important each time. The implication of the computational methodologies comprise of 3D computer aided design (CAD) modeling of historic temples, operation of hi-tech hard- and software for archaeology, algorithmic approaches but also complex mathematical calculations.

Since March 2005 Prof. Hans Georg Bock, head of the Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing (IWR), University of Heidelberg, Germany, has founded the Angkor Project Group (APG) in order promote the importance of computational science and methodologies for cultural heritage and humanities. Since then IWR has developed numerous long- and short-term student's projects in Cambodia with close collaborations with its local partners including The Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP); The Royal University of Fine Arts (RUFA); The Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts (MCFA); The National Museum of Cambodia (NMC) and The Global Heritage Fund (GHF).
