Guest Lecture Introduction to IBM and the IBM Corporate Service Corps Program

Lecture Overview

Christian Hunt and Niraj Patel are IBM employees participating in a unique program that IBM has created called the IBM Corporate Service Corps with the goal of developing relationships and exchanging skills within developing economies. As part of their project, they are working with the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) team at Royal University of Phnom Penh on projects related to designing an Education Management Information System (EMIS) for RUPP as well as improvements to RUPP’s master’s degree program.

In this lecture, Christian and Niraj will provide an overview of IBM so that students understand the breadth of markets and activities in which IBM participates, including leading innovations such as the Watson super computer that competed on the television game show Jeopardy, and the breadth of roles within the company. They will also provide a detailed explanation of their roles to present students with what it is like to work at the company.

Biography

Christian Hunt is a product manager responsible for guiding IBM's mobile initiatives across its Software Group brands and driving future offerings related to mobile. He has been with IBM for over 10 years and served in numerous roles, including software product development, customer-facing solution development, and portfolio strategy for the WebSphere division during this time. Christian has an undergraduate degree in Computer Science and a Masters in Business Administration from Duke University.

Niraj Patel is a advisory software engineer responsible for leading development of IBM Systems Director ecosystem solutions. He has been with IBM for over 8 years and served in numerous roles, including software product development and customer exploitation enablements during this time. Niraj has an undergraduate degree in computer Engineering and a Masters in Computer Science.
