From Monday April 28 to Wednesday April 30, 2008, Jens Fangerau, a student from the University of Heidelberg working in the IWR, who is studying mathematics and computer science, spend three sessions about Computer Graphics with OpenGL and Volume Rendering.

Vice Rector Dr. Neth Barom welcomed a speech to Mr. Jens Fangerau, he also focused about the cooperation between RUPP and IWR.

On Monday April 28, he gave a lecture on "An Introduction to Computer Graphics in OpenGL", which presented an introduction of OpenGL and most of the features that you can do with it. Participants of this lecture were Prof. Phal Des and his team of faculty.

On Tuesday April 29, he gave a tutorial about how to get OpenGL worked on a new computer system. He also showed some beginner code of OpenGL which was then explained in detail. This talk was attendant by Prof. Phal Des and his team of the IT Center.

On Wednesday April 30, some more code about OpenGL was shown and Jens Fangerau also said some words about Volume Rendering, a technique to display a 2D projection from a 3D data set. For this case he presented the volume visualizer Gvvis, which was created in an internship in the University of Heidelberg attendant by Prof. Phal Des and faculty and computer science students.

This project is a beginning of collaboration between the Royal University of Phnom Penh and the University of Heidelberg. A project, already started is for example Laser Scans of structures in the National Museum in Phnom Penh.
