This course introduces the general knowledge of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and character writing in Chinese language from fundamental to advanced level. It builds student’s understanding of and skills in using the Chinese language.

This courses focus on training learners’ skill of listening Chinese. Students build their abilities in listening to Chinese speakers.

This courses focus on training learners’ skill of speaking Chinese. Students learn and practice improving their ability to communicate smoothly in Chinese. Moreover, students learn about Chinese society which is necessary for successful communication with native Chinese speakers.

This course trains the learners’ skill of reading and makes the learners achieve the ability of Chinese reading. In this course, students learn to comprehend texts, various kinds of authentic reading materials are used in this subject, students will enlarge their knowledge about the world, and China in particular.

This course focuses on developing students’ skills and competence in Chinese writing. It introduces basic knowledge of Chinese writing from Character to simple composition. Students learn the knowledge of Chinese characters and how to express the knowledge and opinions using Chinese language.

This course introduces the country of China briefly and simply, students learn about China from the whole view and systematically, including Chinese history, geography, culture, philosophy and so on.

This course introduces modern Chinese language including Putonghua and dialects. It focuses on Putonghua from the points of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation character and rhetoric.

This course introduces basic knowledge of Chinese pronunciation. Students learn how to speak like a Chinese with lots of practice, eventually improve their speaking competence.
ICH214 Computer Manipulation in Chinese

This course introduces students to the vocabulary necessary for computer skills and computer usage in China. In addition, students are taught basic Chinese computer skill, becoming acquainted with and using Chinese Windows, typing documents in Chinese, communicating in Chinese via e-mail, and surfing Chinese websites.
ICH406 Ancient Chinese Philosophy

This course introduces the principal modes of Chinese thought in ancient China, from Confucius to Mencius, Lao Tzu to Chung Tzu. It leads students to deeper understanding of Chinese thoughts.

This course introduces contemporary society of China, including modern Chinese life, custom and so on. Students get deep understanding of modern China.
