About Us
The Royal University of Phnom Penh, formerly the Khmer Royal University, was founded in 1960 with five faculties. Closed from 1975-1979, the University was re-opened in 1980 as a Teacher Training College and a Foreign Language Institute (1981) with the goal of meeting the need for teachers and training in the country. In 1988, the two entities were combined to create the Phnom Penh University and in 1996, the name was changed to the Royal University of Phnom Penh. During its history and tradition as the oldest and largest institution in Cambodia, RUPP has educated a significant number of students and these students have served the country as teachers and educational officials all over the country.
With recognition and support of the general public, national and international organizations, and the government, RUPP is now capably mature to establish the Masters Program of Education in order to support the government’s long term educational goals that include: creating a more-demand-driven approach to expanded skills training opportunities, improving educational quality and standards, and assisting in the efforts toward increased effectiveness in management and planning in schools and educational institutions.
The Master degree of Education (MEd) has been specifically designed to meet the needs of individuals who currently hold full-time employment in schools, non-profit organizations, government agencies and private sector agencies relating to education.
