The 28th Japanese Speech Contest in Cambodia was successfully held on 24 May 2026

On 24 May 2026, The Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center (CJCC) successfully held the 28th Japanese Speech Contest In Cambodia. The event was honored by the presence of distinguished guests, including H.E. UENO Atsushi, Ambassador of Japan in Cambodia, Dr. Oum Ravy, Vice-Rector of Royal University of Phnom Penh, and Mr. ISOGAYA Hiroyuki, Director of the Japan Foundation Phnom Penh Liaison Office, alongside representatives from sponsoring organizations and various Japanese language schools across Cambodia.

The Japanese Speech Contest in Cambodia is organized annually to encourage Cambodian students learning Japanese to further develop their language proficiency, public speaking confidence, and cross-cultural understanding. The competition provides a valuable platform for participants to demonstrate their Japanese language skills, creativity, and personal experiences through speech presentations.

Held every year in May, the event gathers Japanese language learners from different educational institutions throughout Cambodia, creating an inspiring environment for cultural exchange and academic growth.

Celebrating the Winners of the 28th Japanese Speech Contest

This year’s contest featured 15 contestants, divided into two categories based on their experience visiting Japan.

Group 1: Contestants with No Japan Experience or Less Than 14 Days in Japan

The winners were:

  • First Place: Ms. Ly Chanvichara
  • Second Place: Mr. Sok Kimsan
  • Third Place: Ms. Phean Reaksa

Group 2: Contestants with Experience Visiting Japan More than 15 Days

The winners were:

  • First Place: Ms. Sin Sreylin
  • Second Place: Mr. Yun Sokunthyreach

The speeches delivered by the contestants reflected not only their impressive Japanese language ability, but also their determination, cultural appreciation, and personal growth through language learning.
